Jacob is a versatile and inspiring guitar and bass teacher who brings energy, encouragement, and real world musicianship into every lesson. He works with students of all ages and skill levels, helping them build confidence while learning the music they genuinely love.
Comfortable across metal, blues, rock, pop, punk, funk, R and B, indie, and ska, Jacob adapts each lesson to the student’s goals. Whether someone wants to shred, groove, write original songs, or simply play their favourite tracks, he keeps lessons practical, motivating, and grounded in real music making. His approach is hands on and momentum focused, helping students understand what to practice and why, while keeping the process exciting.
In addition to teaching at Horizon School of Music, Jacob is a valued mentor with our sister organization, Empower Through Music Society. Through this work, he supports neurodivergent, at risk, and marginalized youth across the Greater Vancouver region. His patience, empathy, and belief in every student’s potential make him a powerful and steady presence in both environments.
Jacob believes music should feel inspiring, personal, and achievable. His lessons are built around the songs you want to learn, the sound you want to create, and the confidence you want to build.
