Mikhail Pokrovskiy
From the moment Mikhail could walk, he knew that music was his calling. However, when his family immigrated to Canada when he was just six years old, a significant language barrier made it difficult for his parents to find suitable music lessons. It wasn’t until the age of 13 that Mikhail finally began his formal journey in music, studying guitar under the guidance of Kris Schulz.
After performing countless live shows with his high school band, Mikhail shifted his focus from guitar to pursue higher education in audio engineering. During his time at The Art Institute of Vancouver, he was exposed to a wide array of musical genres and ideas that deepened his understanding of sound, offering him perspectives he had never previously encountered. Upon graduating, Mikhail found a career in live sound, working across the country and collaborating with many prominent figures in the music industry.
While excelling in live sound, Mikhail quietly expanded his musical expertise. He began producing music, exploring new tools beyond the guitar—synthesizers, keys, vocals, and various other instruments. His journey eventually led him to learn DJing, recognizing that music was not just a personal passion but also a powerful medium for sharing deeply emotional experiences with others.
In early 2020, Mikhail made a pivotal decision to leave his live sound career behind and fully dedicate himself to music production. Since then, he has worked with singers, songwriters, and indie filmmakers, producing, recording, and mixing their work. Now, Mikhail hopes to inspire and guide others who may have faced similar challenges in beginning their own musical journeys.
